thanks to this forum I've been getting REALLY into opening the harmonica and learning more about the insides, and fixing and making things better. I think this makes you a better player, as you can set things to your own liking.
I hate to be stuck, so when I kept getting squeals on my OB's, I read around and heard about the nail polish trick. I haven't seen any videos of it up, so here's one I made (it actually works) hope one of you guys (..and gals?) dig the video.
I've also tried adding the micropore tape to the reed, that works great as well.
FYI I recently changed from using clear nail polish to a glue gun.
Glue guns can be a little tricky but you get away with a totally reversible mod. It peels right of if you don't like it.
The other cool thing is that if you use a precision blade like an exacto knife you can pretty much carve the shape of the glue once it's hardened just to be a little bit more cleaner and OCD. ;)
I would love to see a vid, Zhin. I'm a visual learner, and watching one video will be worth reading 1000 instructionals!
your method sounds neat indeed! and I am totally OCD (Like when I get stressed and bite my nails, I have to have it so that all the nails are at the exact same level lol)
