I;ve been trying to work out what LW's warble is after his first phrase during his solo in My Babe.
it sounds like a dirty/sloppy 3-4 warble - but listening to it im sure theres a 5 draw thrown in there too. Does anyone else have any thoughts on this?
It begins at about 1.03 here.
I'd just like to add that normally I'm not one for copying things note for note - I normally like to develop my own interpretations of instrumentals. Here I'm primarily concerned with the technique itself, as it sounds so powerful; also, as with a lot of LW's stuff, it's difficult to work out what he's doing.

Sounds to me like he's warbling over three holes--3,4,and 5. I would have considered that a "dirty" warble until now--but it sounded pretty cool to me!
If you mean the warble right at 1.05, my best guess is this - its tongue blocked, and he hits the 34 draw with vibrato , then warbles between 34draw and a clean 4 with vibrato in time with the warble. A lot of the time he has a quick little clean lead in note just before the warble from above.
About 8 mths ago I slowed this right down and learnt the solo note for note. I had a lot of trouble with the warbles, and I realised that my warbling was crap, no control. If you can pull this song off, you can warble. The other thing to keep in mind is that he's "Little Walter" one of the best of all time and we're not, ie its very hard to do exactly what hes doing.
