Ok, I'm sure this has been discussed in prior threads but I'm going to start it again.

I'm having a heck of a time trying to get these. I'm not a great player but I can please the crowds and I do spend most of my time in 2nd position.
I know I can get these overblows and really expand my repertoire but I am looking for some real help here.

I am mostly a pucker player but can handle some tongue blocking and indeed do play that way for a couple of tunes.

Can someone tell me the difference between an overblow and an overbend?????
And advise on embouchure techniques for both playing styles so I can woodshed both or either please?

Thanks

The difference is one is blown and one is draw!

The important ones are 1,4,5,6 OB and 7, 9 & 10 OD. With practice you can even bend them.

In an overblow you are blowing in such a way that the normal blow reed 'chokes' and instead the draw reed sounds - blowing a draw reed.

To do it you'll probably need to gap your harp very close to the reedplate. Your embouchure should be the same as when you make a draw bend - except you blow instead.

Same with Overdraws - except it's the other way round, you are drawing a blow reed.

EDIT:Oops just reread your post. Overbend - not overdraw. I think overbend is just another name for an overblow.

Takes a lot of practice and it really is a time when tweaking the harp is important. Few harps OB or OD well out of the box. Far Eastern made harps - Lee Oskars, and Delta Frosts in particular need extra work doing to them too.
