I'm so excited. If I don't share this with someone other than my dear little old mum, I'll go nuts.
I just went for a drink with an old muso friend I used to jam with. Around the corner from the bar is a tunnel I used to busk in. So, with it in mind that I'm gonna busk again soon to help work up my chops, I asked if he'd mind hanging out in the tunnel while I played a little while.
Man, did it sound like something compared to the way I used to play? That's a lot of woodshedding and Doc Gussow to thank for that.
My friend then asked me how my singing was these days. Off the cuff, I managed to knock of a couple of verses of 'Ragged and Dirty' and do the fills on harp. I was always terrified of doing harp and singing without a band behind me, but it all came together.
My friend said that my playing was 1000% better and asked if I would sing and play in the band he's trying to get together.
If I'm blowing my trumpet, forgive me. I just heard myself in the tunnel and remembered how I used to sound. That feeling was worth more than all the money in the World.
I'm in a really good mood!

Way to go dude. It is always nice when you are able to see an improvement in what you do. Your friend seemed to notice also, because he queried you about playing with his band. Keep up the good stuff!

Congratulations on this band thing.
"That's a lot of woodshedding..." - and today is Pay Day. :-)

Congats mickil. Practice does pay. Sometimes on a day to day basis, it may not seem like you are making headway, but after a time there is more progress than you can sometimes imagine. It is sort of like looking in the mirror everyday and seeing the same good looking person, then drag out a photo from ten years back and you say, "Whoa! who is that?" Same thing with practice and progress.

Hi guys,
I just checked the board this morning. Thanks a lot for all the kind words and encouragement. Still, no time to rest on my laurels, back to the woodshed I must go! ---------- 'If it sounds GOOD to you, it's bitchen; if it sounds BAD to YOU, it's shitty' - Frank Zappa
