So I was on Earl the Pearl's website, and he says he put the reed plates in this type of freeze that has temperatures of 240 degrees (not sure if it was Fahrenheit or Celsius). Well, does anyone know what this does? Or if it REALLY helps or does anything at all for my reeds and their life span?

Yeah I read about a customiser who freezes the reeds. I think it's meant to align the crystals or metal molecules to make them more resistant to fatigue? For me the jury is still out on that one. I don't see how cooling metal can have any effect on making it's structure align. I'd like to be proven wrong but I think it's just smoke and mirrors personally.

That's something I was doing in 1991. Read the harp-l archives. I used to dip the plates in liquid nitrogen and put them in a -200 freezer for three months. It changed the tone of the reeds slightly.

I have better methods now.
