A chart that lets you figure out the different scales in all the positions.

I would very much hope for feedback. Feel free to work on it yourself (all I used was Excel and Paint).

You can download the Harp Matrix and the Scale sheets here - UPDATED link!

All you need is some transparent slides...

Wow, I just downloaded this, very nice chart. Looks like you put a lot of time into it, thank you! I had to watch the video to understand the chart lay out, but I guess that is why you posted a video on it. As you say in your native tongue "Ich finde das groB!" (the B is that fancy looking B, the one that sounds like "ss")

If I offend anyone with my german, I apologizes. I took 1 semester of German in highschool.

Thanks gorignak, thanks Zhin.
For everybody that wants to try it out: The Harp Matrix should be adapted to your personal playing skill (thats why I put an empty one in the zip). Just use paint or draw it in with a pen...
Btw: The Harp Matrix is the thing I'm the least satisfied with. If you find any better shapes, colors or ways to draw the notes, tell me.

I will work on the Harp Matrix a little more, when I have some time,... + I have a whole list of about 50 different scales that I want to do. Can't wait to check them out...

Cheers everybody

GermanHarpist - I tried to download the files and got this message: This file is neither allocated to a Premium Account, or a Collector's Account, and can therefore only be downloaded 10 times.

This limit is reached.

To download this file, the uploader either needs to transfer this file into his/her Collector's Account, or upload the file again. The file can later be moved to a Collector's Account. The uploader just needs to click the delete link of the file to get further information.

- If you cant get it to work, could you email to me at smaxwell1966@gmail.com Thanks!

Nice work, GermanHarpist. I have not been able to download the files yet either. Once you've got a final version, perhaps Adam could make it available from MBH?

You say you used Excel and Paint. I wonder if would be possible to use only Excel and just apply some templates or macros to highlight the columns of the matrix that correspond to particular scales and to change positions with those scales? (I say this as a person who does not use Excel.)

I believe this would also require the adoption of some character-based symbols for the technique to play on the hole. It would be nice to keep all the columns the same width, using, say, 2 characters. e.g. draw " -", blow " +", overblow "o+", overdraw "o-", draw bend three half steps "-3", blow bend 2 half steps "+2", etc.

Yeah, I think its a pretty good idea to have a little program instead of printing it out and doing it manually. I don't think Excel would be the right choice though... The BEST would be to have a skript that you can run in your Browser.

Unfortunately my programming skills aren't good enough...

About the harp tab instead of the C-scale. This makes sense. However, there's the problem of which tabbing system to use... There are so many. It would help a few and confuse the rest.
You can easily put in your own tableature. Just open the chart in mspaint and change it.

Thanks for the input! I should be done by tomorrow.

EDIT: Ok, it will take a little bit longer (at least a week). However, I will do it right and thorough.

Ok, I now added all the scales and tunings I had planned. Hope this chart helps people out there. The download-link is in the first post.

Thanks for doing the work. I've been looking for a resource to help me learn scales.
