I'm interested to hear from anyone
who has actual experience with
diatonic MS replacement reedplates,

Manufactured to closer tolerances
and hence better? Got this silly idea
from this:

Thank you.

They ARE better than the stock MS Blues Harp and Big River reedplates. I've directly compared them by switching them out in the same harp. It made an improvement, but was not earth shattering. You really gotta emboss the slots and regap and profile the reeds. THEN, I could hear a difference.

IMO, however, the MS replacement plates are just not worth the price (almost that of a NEW harp), if you are just looking for 'better tone'. You'll get a better improvement in tone from just embossing/gapping/profiling the stock reedplates. On the other hand, if you have blown a reed, and are committed to staying with the Hohner MS series, then you'll be satisfied with using the replacement plates.

Oh and FYI, from what I understand, if you aren't using Blues Harps or Big Rivers (ie. the low-end MS harps), then the MS replacement reedplates will not be different than those already in your harp.

Thank you!

I suspect you're right about
the low-end MS harps.
