I am trying to bend the 6 hole draw on a D harp to get the Bb, but often I get a high squeal. I don't know if is a harmonic of the note or what but it doesn't sound 'nice'.
What causes it, is it the harp or my technique?
Thanks

It's caused by the reed twisting laterally as it vibrates. It's usually a sign that you're blowing or drawing too hard.

Just had the same problem with a D Blues Harp Hohner MS System, only it was the step and a half bend on the 3 draw. Gap and embossed blow AND draw reeds, and problem went away. Could all go back to MVLUN's theory about drawing too hard. After I tweaked it I was able to achieve the note with minimal force.
