I had an earlier thread about my Seydel Solist Pro in A that got deleted with the outage, and my problem was the 2 draw, and to a small degree the 2 blow.

With some work, I'm now getting much better tone - but I'm still having a problem and I'm hoping the answer will be "out there".

The 2 draw seems to take an inordinate amount of AIR! And I feel the tone and volume could both be better. The rest of the harp: the 1 hole, and the 3 and up, all plays awesomely. But the 2 draw seems to need a whole lot of air.

I have these other harps, with no problems on 2 draws:
Marine Band
Lee Oskar
Suzuki Promaster
Suzuki Bluemaster
Delta Frost

Now the Lee Oskar and especially the MB are a bit "breathier", in general, than these other harmonicas. But the 2 draw on the Seydel is competing with the Marine Band.

What are my options? Would increasing the reed gap improve the draw? Or is it (shudder) purely a matter of technique?

I'll abide by the answer of the MBH Hive Mind. Thank you.

Take a look at the reedgap on the Bluesmaster and adjust the reedgap on the Seydel to be similar if it looks that much different.

If its the two hole draw and it's on all your harps I'm guessing it's technique. Try dropping your jaw and tongue as low as possible.

The problem is only on the Seydel. I have no trouble with 2 draw on any other harp.

I'll check the reed gaps - maybe an adjustment there will do the job. Of course, I'll continue to work on my technique - as it can always stand improvement!

Hey Sifu...you might want to log onto Dave Payne's site

www.elkriverharmonicas.com

Dave is the Seydel Guru and will probably be able to give you some advice if the issue is with the harp.
Dave is a good guy for help.

oh sorry I misread-- I must've skipped over the "no" in "with no problems on 2 draws"- if it's just one harp it probably the harp.
