Check out the new "Sonny Boy" amp by Blues Luggage:

Here is a review by Rick Davis on his Blog:

I own one, and it is a great amp. I've been messing around with it for about a month. Love it. The 5 watt size is just right for getting after it in your house or apartment without making enemies of the neighbors.

It's priced right at $600 usd. About right for a Champ circuit clone with no cheap parts and the case that goes around it. You're right about the match to the Fender case. From what I was told by the guy that makes them, the case is made by the same company that Fender contracts to make theirs. So, it more than matches.

I've played through the Harpgear 2, and I own the Blues Luggage. Clearly, I've had more time messing with the Blues Luggage. They are essentially the same. But, the big difference to me (besides the very cool appearance of the Blues Luggage) was the fact that I could open and close the Blues Luggage to achieve different tonality. One of my favorite sounds for many years has been the Pignose original. I'm a big fan of the way it can be opened and closed up on the hinge to get slightly varied tones. Add this to the way you can set it on different reactive surfaces (like the kitchen table gives a better bass that the carpeted floor), and it has great versatility. The Blues Luggage hinge works the same way. We all like to fiddle around to experiment with sounds. The Harpgear just sits there and produces it's own sound. The Blues Luggage looks cool and allows another variable.

Jon, I'd say go with the HarpGear, sounds better in my opinion.

Not for a while. I'm now officially on the road for a few weeks. Motorcycling my way across the states of Nevada, Utah and eventually Arizona on as many dirt roads as I can find. Hot springs, cave paintings and solitude. Not necessarily in that order.

Contact Gravity Music in Denver. They should be able to hook you up.
