Hi Y'all,
I'm in NYC right now. I arrived on the 18th, and I will be here until the 26th. I'm having a ball!!! On Sunday, I played at Butterfield 8 and also the Algonquin Hotel. Last night, I was over at Birdland playing. Very crowded there! We had a guest appearance from singer Victoria Shaw. Also, a few guys who have done lots of work with Aerosmith were there. They were great! By the time it all ended, it was around 1 am, but since I wasn't too tired yet and full of energy, I figured I would go up to 46th St to Don't Tell Mama. They have a very intimate piano bar. It wasn't too crowded, but I still played. The guy on the piano was Mike Edelstein. They call him Sparky. So I told him that I wanted to play Georgia. We did it in a very bluesey style. And then we switched to something more upbeat because it was Mike's birthday. We did S'Wonderful. So I didn't get back to my hotel until about 2:15 am, and then I had to spend time unwinding because I was very hyped up. At around 4:15 am, I finally dozed off. And today, I am ready to do some more playing, but I'll have to try and figure out my itinerary. Anyway, I wanted to mention that Jason Ricci is playing at Terra Blues on the 22nd. That's tomorrow! As many of you must know, Terra Blues is on Bleecker Street in the heart of the Village. I called them about tickets. They do it on a first-come, first-serve basis. And it appears that they start handing out tickets at around 7 pm. So if I can work it out, I think I will go. I will have to get there early because I can only imagine what the line will be like. After all, Jason is so popular and so fabulous on the harmonica! I am sure he will give a dynamite performance. And I would love to meet him and perhaps, if time permits, we could talk about violin stuff because he is such a great fan of the violin.

Hi Everyone! Jonsparrow, yes, I'm having a ball here with all of the playing that I'm doing. So much fun and nice audiences, which is important. Unfortunately, I did not get to Jason's concert last night. I was playing at Don't Tell Mama. I can only imagine how incredible Jason was. Sorry, Jason!! Jason, the next time that I'm here in NYC and you give a concert, I will arrange things so that I can definitely come. Or if you perform in the DC area, that would be another possibility. It's something great to look forward to! RyanMortos, that's wonderful that you saw Jason in Philly. And I completely agree that when you go to hear someone who is as great as Jason, it inspires you. As musicians, we always need to have that support and inspiration because it keeps us going.
