Anybody out there a fan of Phil or Rory? I spent many a year working on their styles . They have both really flowing styles and really interesting ways of getting around the harp. Sometimes when harp players play exact scales all it says to me is technique, but both Phil and Rory will take ,say the beginning of one scale for a couple of notes and then ascend or descend using parts of a different scale or arpeggio. It just makes things more interesting to me. Of course , to be able to play in this way requires a high level of technique, so don't take me as a luddite. This mixing up of scales jumps, slurs, rhythm patterns etc, just makes my ears happy. Both have distinct musical harp personalities is maybe what I am getting at.
