So for those of you who don't know, Ottawa (yes that's right-Canada's capitol) hosts a pretty big music festival every summer which varies in quality vs. big names. Unfortunately no Jason Ricci this year but Sugar Blue is coming! Among others you guys might find interesting are Louisiana Red, the Yardbirds, and TJ Wheeler.

If you're anywhere nearby during the summer check it out!

I love the Ottawa blues fest! I grew up there. In previous years we've had Bob Dylan and Etta James! last year was AMAZING Taj Mahal and Harry Manx (my two absolute favorites) and Jason Ricci and canned heat.

They've got a really bad ass set-up where if you volunteer for XX number of shifts you get tickets for the show you want. If you volunteer for like 5 + shifts you get all-access pass to any show you want.

definitely a great atmosphere.

oh, and just around the same time is a Jazz festival as well as the fringe festival (for plays)

oda, if you're around for some of the smaller shows (and like folky stuff), be sure to check out my friend Kyrie Kristmanson, who is the new darling of the CBC. She's wonderful (though not blues...At all).

And yes, KISS will be there. Sigh.
