so im listening to these two videos over an over an over again an i cant decide wich sound i like better. an im trying to figure out why they sound differnt. is it because one has a volume pot an he turned it down a little maybe? cause the other one has alot more gain, but they both have black CR elements. could it be the shell too?

Sometimes elements are like snowflakes, no two exactly alike. The shell also can make a difference as can the VC setting. I tend to think that the VC was set at max for the sales pitch. I always enjoy watching that guy sample mics.
. I have used the same element in different shells and have had different results. I sort of liked the sound from the black bullet .

it was brown, but ya that one sounds alot meaner then the other. but the other one is apealing because of the volume controll. i hate feedback.

The variation can be many things as suggested. The CR sound s better to me. The chances of a CR sounding better than a CM are good - but a special CM can sound better than 90% of the CR's out there. It is very, very, very (did I say very) difficul to properly hear the difference between elements from a recording over the web. It is NOT the shell - those shells, from a tone standpoint are virtually identical.
