so i went to the store an got an sp20 F harp today. man this thing is stiff. hard to get bends. also if any one can tab out "the way i hurt myself" that would be awsome an ill love you for ever. he uses an F harp an a Bb for the last 12 bars.

i use a standard F very little. i do use a low F in 3rd position more. i use a Bb in third for a lot of what i used to use a standard F for.

hey jon

I have the exact same harp. It's stiff due to the high key but I do love the sound of it. Break it in and it'll play much better. Not easy to get all the half-step bends etc. though. Only one recipe there: practice, practice, practice :)

jon 'the way I hurt myself' is my favorite track on Rocket no9, the solo just tears me up, with really sweet octaves.

we 'try' to play 'Snowflakes and Horses' in the band I'm in. I use a low F sp20 for this, and a 2 hole draw bent x2 is called for on the 2nd note.
For the solos I just improvise my style 'cause I cant replicate Jason and would not wish to:-)
I am trying to get a sound out of a nose flute I've got! Because on track 12 'rocket number 9' he does a nose flute solo, how would you tab that out??

The Taj Mahal version of Checking up on my baby is in Bb and is quite an easy song to master. I had some issues with my SP20 in F also and I just did a couple of the tweaks that Adam recommended with the piece of paper (gapping) and it worked fine. I also use an F blues harp and it sounds even better than the SP20.

Hey Oisin
I think you meant that "Checking" is in C (played 2nd position on an F)?
cheers

I often do " Messin' With the Kid" on an F,song in C. Then there's Magic Dick's "Pack Fair and Square" a tune I've been pursuing almost since I first picked up a harp.

The more you play it the easier it will get to play.
They kinda have to be broken in.

Nice one Gamblers Hand...you have passed the test!!

That's the second time I've done that on the forum and the first time no-one said anything!

Isn't it a great tune?

Oisin
