Hello harpers,

My 5 blow is very squeaky and it sounds like a party horn lol.
Any ideas on how to make it not sound squeaky all advice is welcome!!!!

I always start with taking off the covers and doing a really good cleaning--sometimes a little chunk of green stuff might have grown on the reed.

If that doesn't work, post another message with more specifics--like what kind of harp it is--was it sudden-onset squeaky or out of the box squeaky?

I like the Jason Ricci Method--I think you can find it in full on Harp-L--search on Jason Ricci--I think the name of the article is something like "OCD Rock Star harp cleaning."

If you don't want to go to that much trouble--just take off the reed plates and soak them in Oxi-clean for a few minutes--then rinse them very thoroughly--check the reeds for obvious damage--reassemble and harp on!

Well, I wouldn't try substituting it for gin in a gin-and-tonic-- ;-)

I really don't know what you're asking here.

Maybe you should try a search--there was a very long thread on cleaning harps a while back. There is also a very long thread on the subject over on Jason's site-- harmonicaspace.com . . .
