Hi guys, I just got a Portable recorder after looking around online for reviews and such.
Now I'm still in the dicovery/playing around with it mode but this seems like such a great learning tool. You can easily transfer mp3 files just by click & drag from your computer and back. It has a slow down and loop functions for hard passages without changing key. It has a direct IN (labeled Guitar In)to plug in your favorite mic to play along/record. It says unlimited overdubbing, I've yet to test that. I'm taking it to my Thursday Night Jam to test out the live recording functions. Comes with a 1 Gig Memory card and can be upgraded easily to 2. I've had it for 1 day and I can see how this thing can be a practice monster. I'll put in further updates as I discover/learn more how to use it.

Sounds very good. The slow down feature is nice - I use "Amazing Slowdowner" on my computer for that - great piece of software very cheap.
I have an Edirol R09 recorder and I'm very happy with its performance at live events. It allows you to disable AGC and manually set record levels - with very good results. ---------- /Greg

Belfast,
I have the H2. It's affordable, easy to use, and has good sound. It has some nice features like compression and an auto limiter setting to prevent distortion.
