First post....hi ya'll.... glad to be here....!!!
Question: Paul Butterfield album that's not too well known, Resurection of Pigboy Crabshaw, opening cut One More Heartache... my take on it is it's in D and he's playing 3rd position harp in C, but I could be wrong....
His introduction to the harp solo, almost a minute into the cut, is so sweet, but I ain't getting it... Where are those tones coming from?
Suggestions? thank you so much.... Robert Royem

Hi Robert welcome to this forum
Tonal qualities come from skill/technique honed over years.
There are many threads relating to tone on the forum history if you look back. maybe you are getting that sweet tone but you don't know it, try recording yourself playing it. PS Robert don't forget to sign into the current thread 'where are you from MBH members sign in'

Lots of wah-wah's, I know that. I generally didn't like that album except for a few cuts from it.

I have this tune from an Elektra Anthology CD - it is indeed in D played on a C harp (3rd position), acoustic. ---------- /Greg

Lots of wah-wahs, that's what I'm talking about, exactly!
He's wah-wahing the heck out of the very low end of the harmonica.... beautiful.
I'm new to amplified harp but old to harmonica in general...this is a whole new world!
thanks for input.
