It took me a while to start watching the Wire - but I've just got to the end of series 2 on BBC and now I'm totally hooked. There's some good blues music in the series too.

Does anyone else here listen to the Nighthawks?

Yes, I like and listen to The Nighthawks. I've only seen them perform live once back in 1984 at Greenville, Mississippi, at a blues festival headlined by Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughn. I was really impressed by Mark Wenner's amplified harp playing.

These guys play a lot around here (Eastern PA). I almost caught a show last week at godfrey Daniels in Bethlehem - They are in Sellersville PA in July, I think, and I am going to try to catch that one. I have heard them on Siruis Bluesville and they sound good. Washington DC based, I believe.

I saw them 2 weeks ago- they play a couple times a year at a little outdoor place in town (eastern VA). Mark Wenner is just a super nice guy- I had him sign my harp case, and not only did he sign it he drew a really cool picture. He's always more than willing to talk to anyone during their breaks (as are all the band). They are coming again July 17- I'm there.

I'm in Baltimore so I can see The Nighthawks a couple times a year. Good band, loyal following.
One of those bands that the sum of the parts are better then the individual players. Good interesting guitar work solid Rythym section and Harp. They do a great version of Born in Chicago. And yea Mark likes to chat between sets. Good guys

Big fan. I stumbled across them on lala and have downloaded a bunch of their tunes. I love Mark's playing. I'm hoping they come to New England soon.
