Well I don't really see what you mean, as I don't really hear any of Little Walters "My Babe" in George Smith's "Tight Dress". However Little Walter was a huge influence on George Smith. So it's inevitable that some of his style would come through in George's own style. Just as some of George Smith's style comes through in the playing of Dennis Gruenling, Mark Hummel, Kim Wilson, Rod Piazza, William Clarke, Gary Smith, etc.

You must have a different version of it to me ( I have the version on "Blowing the Blues"). Because on the one I have they are definitely nothing alike.
Ah so there's the answer! It's a different version to the one I have. Yes, you are correct Jon they are very alike. I think it's as I stated in my first post. Walter was a huge influence on George. I would think it was a direct nod to the high esteem that George held Walter in.
Mine is from the El Segundo label "Blowin the Blues". It appears that there could be more CD's from George by that name. I suspect that they are compilations of George's stuff taken from different times in his career. Not true valid albums like "Harmonica Ace".
LOL! I can't believe I didn't recognise it! Helge Tallqvist does a great version of Loose Screws. If you like George Smith check out Helge he is great. He has tone for days!
He did a tribute to George Smith album which is superb.
