My buddy Gino Emmerich just released his first album - he has been working on it for a LONG time. It is BIG BAND with Harp - and I think it is REALLY cool.

Here's a taste: Attack of the Lindy Hoppers

If you want more - check out his web site at http://www.ginoharmonica.com/index2.html

I'm not really a retro guy, so I wasn't sure about this at first. But the moment the solo came in: whoa! That's hip. He's thrown a bebop solo, or at least a somewhat "outside" solo, into a trad frame. I like that. Thanks for sharing it.

If you had a link to that song I'd like to hear it, all I see is 'no video.'

too bad you're not going to SPAH Zack. I hang with all of those guys and I would have introduced you.

No way would you ever catch me wearing a suit like Gino's though, but then again David Carradine didn't think anybody would ever find him in a closet.

Nice!
Mining the same ore as Colin James and Brian Setzer!

It kinda reminds me of the stuff Dennis Gruenling was doing with "Jump Time" and also a little bit as the logical extension of some of the Red Archibald stuff.

Went to site listen to what I could.

Not really my scene I'm afraid I like the harp stuff and I like the bigband stuff, but not together.

The shift of continuity and displacement between big band and harp dosen't fit right for me.

The Heads or the one I heard with harp doubling sound very choppy, that's just taste that's the way they obviously wanted it.

It's certainly an unusual line up with harp front on horn set up. I don't quite see it as an advantage.

Nice joke Buddha! Too bad, I know. I'd really like to, but I made important investments. Always next year, right? I'll need a vacation after my Junior year. It will be cool, HOPEFULLY it's closer. You better be there, or I might try to pass as you...hahaha.

Sorry some of you can't see the embedded quicktime player. Works for me. But here's the direct link to the MP3 file:

http://www.ginoharmonica.com/audio/attack_of_the_lindy_hoppers.mp3

Not only did Peloquin teach Gino a few things, he did most of the arranging and plays a cool chromatic solo on one of the numbers, not to mention his wicked sax playing. Michael plays sax and harp. I play sax and harp. Michael is a musician's musician. I am a hack.
