I was wondering what you guys did to turn the reeds, i.e. what you used? I need a method that's cheap as I am officially broke. One of these days I will buy a toolset from Buddha (meaning end of the year, Merry Christmas me!!!).

Cut your own reed spanner out of a thick piece of aluminium; use a junior hacksaw and a file.

Any idea how it should look? Might be a good project for me and my Dad.

They used to use metal banding material to hold stuff together on skids and bundles of lumber - if you get a chunk of that then file a slot in it the size of your reed head, you should be good to go. I'm luck I have a fairly well equiped shop so when ever I need something I just make it. Hope this helps. It should look like a very tiny open end wrench. I could make you one and mail it if you like. Should it fit the marine band reeds?
