Jason, get in touch with Ben Bouman he'll be able to help you out I would think. Also Christelle could put you in touch with Jean Jacques Milteau, who would know somebody out there as well I'm sure.
Hope you get sorted out quick.

In Belgium you may also contact Geneviève Dartevelle, I think she uses the same kind of amp (and you are among her myspace friends ;)

Don't know the extent of the damage, The amp still works just sounds like ant eater puke. I have contacted ben Bouman, Christelle is in France or at the very least far away, She dosen't use amps any way...I have no phone, very limited internet access (once every few days at best) the mic on my computer is broken (Skype), I'm going to try and get the rig fixed today in belgium Im in a town called casterleed or something like that there really isn't anything here except cows, horses and aspargus. I have my doubts...Any way this is one reason I hate traveling abroad for work when things arn't properly looked after! Thanks for all your suggestions and I will contact Geneviève Dartevelle right now. Thanks again jason

@Violin Cat : I had another idea : as you are on the bill for "La Nuit du Blues" Festival in Charleroi this saturday, why not asking the organisers if they can arrange something ?
That's the biggest date you do in Belgium, 13th edition, I presume they have lots of contacts to find you an amp...
On that link : phone and mail of the organiser :

wonder if the tubes got damaged. I had a Peavey 5150 II head that got jarred and the tone went to piss, until i replaced the tubes. might be worth a shot to dig up some replacements and try it if you gotta

No - last Friday.

Yeah, I noticed.
You gotta live somewhere, and you could do a helluva a lot worse than here.

I spoke to Jason briefly this morning and Brian Purdy was helping with some technical advice on what the possible problems could be from the flight damage. Hopefully between him and the Belgian amp tech they will sort the issue out. If not I'm confident that someone will provide a Bassman or HG50 for Jason.

Marc Vos (foxamps.com)builds and fixes all sorts of tubeamps. Also harmonica amplifiers. He lives in Budel, near Eindhoven, The Netherlands. Since you will be travelling up north, you might be able to arrange something. Unless the amp fell from the plane in midflight, I expect the damage to be minor. Happy trails Jason.

Jason,
I finally got in touch with my contact in Belgium and sent her the contact information you provided. She tells me whoever answered was rude to her and is now sending threatening text messages. I expect it's not you, but can you get the person to lay off? She was only trying to help...
And if you still need help, she may still be willing...

Sparrow, who cares?
Jason,
What's wrong with it? If you need a tube, I've got a collections of tubes here and my dad's got more vacuum tubes than God. Global Express can get it there in like two days.

Hey everyone thanks again for the suggestions. Hey Ricafan...Are you talkung about Genivive? who is sending text messages? Are you sure its from the road mangmnt? I'm not saying its not but there so busy it seems strange...I want to help but can't without knowing more info at any rate Im sorry! Dave, Thanks bro you rock but I don't need any tubes...The HG 50 is acting OK now since its been looked at, but still not perfect, I'm going to swap some tubes tomorrow and see what happens. I think the issue mostly had to do with really bad grounds at one of the clubs and the owners house, but there are still some concerns on my part that may stem from the fact that I swapped tubes prematurally when I was dealing with no grounds, and horribly varying power levels all all these clubs! Any way you guys rock! If any ones at any of these shows a little early and hass a bassman in there car or something I would love to use it if I dont get mine fixed soon. If not I'll make it I just hope noone shoots any youtube vids! Love J

I hate feeling this helpless. I built tube equipment in the Seventies, then I studied electronics from 1978-1981 (although I dropped out in my third year). Even in those days, tubes didn't rate more than an hour's lecturing in total in three years!
You guys who use tube amps all the time know more than I do, but obviously, tubes plug into sockets, so mechanical shock can dislodge them, and either Harp Gear should build in some kind of retaining straps and/or you should check each tube is firmly seated in its socket every time you move your amp.
In a plane's luggage hold there's less pressure differential between the inside and the outside of the tube - if the vacuum inside the tube is weak enough, then a positive pressure differential may make the tube slightly leaky, so that it may work, but not as well as it used to.(or maybe the tube just wasn't 100% perfect when it came out of the factory)
With hindsight then, always have one or, better, two spare sets of tubes, and carry them in your hand-luggage - don't put them in the plane's hold. (that suggestion is based on no knowledge of the pressure in a tube, but what I suggest can't possibly harm you)
However, I can imagine tubes being considered too hazardous to let people take them in their hand-luggage. If that's the case, maybe professionals can get a license to carry them? Otherwise, I'm surprised it isn't all solid-state nowadays.
Josh's comment on voltage is important.
Of all these possibilities, I'd be surprised if it was the ground/earth, but that's because I'm not sure what sound is coming out of the amp.
In Britain we have a nearly unique three pin electrical system, live and neutral (unbalanced - since the neutral is earthed at the power station) and (local) earth, so I probably fail to appreciate other countries' arrangements (I never studied high power electronics).

I don't know who was sending the texts. My friend doesn't know - just that she was getting them from the number she called.
Her opinion is that the original post here was a hoax, and she's put it behind her, but holds no ill will toward Jason Ricci

It was not a hoax, I saw Jason saturday in Belgium. We talked about his amp problem. I don't know about your friend and all, but I think I see who is Dominique the road manager, as I met her some years ago. She is a strong character woman, maybe ageing has made her a little rough... but it's probably a misunderstanding.
By the way : Jason, your concert was fantastic, I forgot to tell you. Even better than I expected, and so is your new album I bought there.
There's a funny thing : when you played "Enlightment", I didn't know it was on the album, nor it was a Sun Ra cover ; I just thought it was cool that you played a waltz, I even asked myself if that was a sort of hommage to the people... did you see the reaction of the audience to that song ? Waltz being one of the most popular/traditional music in Europe, in a way it is our roots, as blues is for Americans : we grew with that.
You and the band would deserve to play bigger halls and expand from the blues scene to play the rock festivals (and even jazz clubs). I'm sure your music would appeal to more people than blues fans.

Thanks Gloth! Waltz's are such a very very beautiful part of euro music! Yes I have seen the people loving it I am so grateful to everyone here! I have been basically a mess between the equipment, sound, Brady and I breaking up and spiritual issues its so good to hear the show was better than expected! I have felt that I have been playing and sounding my worst, But I also know I'm pretty crazy (Chemically) and so the end result is I have no idea!
Rica fan. I talked to Genivieve, It's not her....You haven't said who it is yet so there is little I can do! Dominique says she only got two calls one from genivive and one from Ben Bouman. Is it possible your friend dialed the wrong number? Genivive says she's the only femal harp player in Belgium that she knows of, My hands are tied here buddy without more info. I can say in confidence at this point after much research that it was not this management sending back texts, and that I am indeed the one who posted this question...

Could be she used a wrong number. I haven't heard back from her since you confirmed yourself independently of here. It's possible she just wants to leave it in the past. I'll let you know as soon as I hear back from her...
Good luck with the rest of your tour...
