Who's going to SPAH?

I know oldwailer is. Jay gaunt and RJ Harman will be there leading the youth heavyweight players movement.

I'll be rooming with Jimi Lee so I expect lots of private jams if you're into that kind of thing.

You should go to SPAH. You will learn more than you can imagine.

I will certainly be there tagging along with my harp friends, Jay Gaunt and Zack Pomerleau.
I really can't wait to go. I have really been looking forward to it.
May youth reign supreme :)

I'm looking forward to working with Jay. There's nothing like working with open minded students. He's gonna be a bad ass.

Zack unfortunately won't be there, another fantastic player and student.

Right, Superchucker--"May youth reign supreme :)" Just go on and rub it in! ;-) Youth, of course, will reign supreme--just cuz you'll almost certainly last longer than us old farts!

Hey, Zack! You gotta go! I demand that you be there!

I haven't beat on anybody for years--it makes my arms tired.

I don't know what a chaperone has to do--especially when the person being chaperoned is obviously older that 12 ;-) I'll do what I can in that department--just don't make me chase you--I'm a little slow! I will solemnly promise to not buy you any beer--does that work?

I would kick in 50 bucks to the "Zack goes to SPAH fund"--if a few others can kick in a little--how much do we need to raise?

Hey, if you really wanted to do that, you'd have to e-mail my Dad on that one. I could pay most of my way I think, since I got so many summer gigs... If you REALLY want to e-mail my Dad, to at least try to convince to let me go (hahah) his e-mail garryinmaine (at) hotmail.com

I'll get an email off in the morning--I gotta go right now--anybody else want to kick in or write an email to get Zack to SPAH???

I think it could be a contribution to get a talented young man a great educational opportunity! You just gotta love that!!

The issue is getting my Dad there. I could get there definitely with my gigs I have got. I don't like taking people's money. It's up to them in the end. And, I'd LOVE to go, meet Chris and all those cool dudes!!!

Well--if your dad is a harp player, or a musician, then the thing is to get him fired up on going with you--will an email from me or others have any sway with him? I mean, as far as he knows I'm just another incarnation of Jason!

I've done it before with four people to a room. I know people who have slept in the hotel lobby without recourse. There is usually free food in most of these hotels. Or get some bread PB&J and you're set to go on the cheap.

I will definitely NOT be going to SPAH. The Satan and Adam tour is going to be rescheduled for August 11-16. It is going to happen. Philly, Piermont, Portsmouth, plus, I think, Knoxville and Huntington WV. Maybe even a Boston-Area gig. We might even start in Gulfport, Fla.

I'd kill to attend SPAH, but travel-retarded, (last time on an aircraft: 1976) which I'm trying to get over this year. But mostly, what prevented me was looking at hotel prices that even for a few days were the eqivalent of half my rent on their cheap side. If there's some guaranteed room sharing for cost, this might be a possibility, but since I blew it off earlier this year due to cost, I'd have to scramble like mad now to pull a couple hundred bucks for air/food/hotel. Enough of my woes, just givin' you the 2 cent story.

In spite of the fact that I live less than 3 hours away.....I am an emphatic "maybe". It all has to do with work scheduling. There is a hot little project with an 800 lb gorilla of a potential client that I have been cultivating for several years. They are trying to get their act together to do an install during favorable weather during this summer. The latest timeline shows 3 install windows when all the players willl be available to coordinate. One of those periods has SPAH landing right in the middle of it. So, we shall see. If it happens, I'll be trying to land lodging at the last minute, likely placing me in some flophouse in downtown Sac.

randy, if you're only 90min away then drive in every morning and go home at night. It's worth the drive.

Actually, drive in at night and go home in the afternoon... the cool stuff happens in the middle of the night when people are drunk or experimenting with things from the emerald triangle....

Randy, if I get to go, I'll let you know and you can share a fleabag with me. You could do what Buddhee says and drive in. A room would give you an option of you get higher than a giraffe's ass and can't make it home.

By the way, are you available tomorrow (Thursday, 18Jun?) I have to go down to Chico. I'll be coming down the Canyon. I'd like to meet you.

You don't have any attack dogs, do you?

Christelle,

you're gonna be a quite a force if you keep your euro time clock. The good stuff happens at night and most of us are getting too old to hang out until the sun comes up but we try.

I hope you join in the private "pro" jams that are bound to happen. Jimi Lee is my room mate this year so I imagine there will be many of them in our room. You would be most welcome.

naw... the best part of SPAH is in the little things. The people you meet. The people you share a meal with. The people you get drunk with and tell stupid stories about yourself. That's the best part of SPAH at least to me...

You know Chris I'm 40 years old and even if it's a nice move to explain to me what is a convention, I think I'm old enough to understand all that...When I said that it sounded like an execution program was because I felt like this invitation of yours was to put me down. And btw, I'll play with Jimi, and yes even if I'm new on the market I'm a pro too.....

Edited and added: 18th of June

In second thought I want to add that regarding my recent past with Chris, I've wrote this, and yes regarding Chris I'm still defensive. Now as I 've already mentioned to him I'm waiting for Chris to prove me that at SPAH WE COULD BE FRIENDS..

Christelle, you know, Chris is a really nice guy and I honestly think he was warmly welcoming you. He doesn't want to pick a fight with you; that's for children. Just go to S.P.A.H. and have fun, it'll be cool. Chris means no harm at all, and I see no reason why you should be hostile towards him. He's cool, you'll learn possibly how to be a real pro from him. No competition now, it's all a learning experience.
