hi all, i just got a group together and we are interested in performing, should we start on the streets? we are both very serious about our muzik. (is just me and a guitar player, we both double on vocals.) is there any way we could score a gig? (one more thing, we are only in highchool.)

If you can record somehow, do so. Give it out to local places like coffee shops like Chris said, or other little restaurants. Go to lots of open mics and jams. That's what I did and still do.

check your local laws on street performing, and if it's permitted, do that. local parks are good as well as certain street corners, but do all you can to get along with local police! public playing does a lot to help round out individuals and acts. later on cafes are a good idea. given your age bars and restaurants may be out of the realm of possibility now, but any live performance you do now will serve to help you develop good habits that will help you later. once people see that you have not only chops bu confidence, you may get invited to play parties with your school peers etc. not a bad deal either. does your school have any sort of talent shows ever? another possibility.
good luck to you!
