Maybe not a blues guy (bet he had the blues quite often thought) but he sure had a lot of soul... used to listen to him growing up.
Liked especially his older songs like " I want you back" , "Ben" "I'll Be There" "Who's Lovin' You" "Daddy's Home" etc
Sad way to go, just ahead of his July concert in England.....

Great entertainer and talent. I was a fan while my kid was watching him growing up. Could have had it all at this time in his life. It is almost as though he died years ago given what has become of his life. What a great looking young man and performer. He will be adored by his fans. He must have been a tormented person who was forced to grow up too fast and maybe never grew up at all. It is sad to see all the videos since he was a child. Sad.

He went WAY down hill for me in the last 2 decades. I will always remember him up through "Thriller" thereabouts.

Now, Farrah Fawcett - she's a lot harder to let go of...... (OK, you probably had to be born in the late 50's.....)

For all his faults and alleged behaviour, he was an incredible musical tour de force. A lot of his stuff was simply superb and very innovative.

The way I will always remember him is as a young boy singing "Rockin' Robin" he had astonishing stage presence and energy even at that age. Simply amazing.

RIP Michael.

A tragedy,50 is no age.

My eldest daughter came down to breakfast and I said

"Michael Jackson the singer is dead did you know who he was"?

"Oh yes daddy we do some of his tunes at dancing.
Did he have long black hair"?

"Err kind of,yes"

She paused a few seconds and then said.

"Ha I always get him mixed up with Ausie Osbourne."

That made me smile.

May be the real reason for the face lifts.

The shame - he was a good looking young black kid who for some reason was insistent on making himself look like the ghoulish looking figure he became, and the more he changed his looks, them stranger his behavior seemed to become. Talented beyond description. I am 61, and I was an adult who would look at a little kid in TV who was cool and stole shows. Amazing.

Shame. He will be missed. In one way or other he touched everybody's lives. Even those who may not have enjoyed his music would have a certain fascination when he was in the news. He was a unique, colourful character, the likes of which I doubt we'll see again.
It's a sad day for me.

Despite he was a very controversial man we have to admit he was a very good singer and a brilliant dancer.A very good musician.

Well I wasn't a big fan of a lot of his adult career and definitely not of his personal life. But that said, some of his music was wonderful. In fact my first ever LP was Diana Ross presents the Jackson 5. I loved that album even though within about a year after acquiring it my favorite band turned out to be Grand Funk Railroad. Boy, that dates me huh? It seems to me that his talent was obscured by his eccentricity and personal demons. Perhaps he is a poster boy for what can happen to abused children (there are claims of his father being physically and verbally abusive). Now we are hearing that perhaps his personal physician accidentally over dosed him on his daily injection of Demerol. Makes me glad to be just an ordinary Joe when I hear all this stuff these celebrities do to themselves.
