Although this is a humourous piece Madcat is a superb musician who at home in any stlye and is a multi instrumentalist. For anyone who doesn't know of him, they should check out his recordings with Shari Kane and his solo album "Harmonicology"
that reminds me... I was a jam when I first moved to Phoenix. I just came off the stage when a sax player came up to me as said "I can play anything you can play" firstly, it's weird that any musician would even do that to a harp player secondly, I just laughed at him. "No you can't" He says "try me:". So I blew a chord "Play that mother fucker".

That stuff can come in handy. Bill Duncan, who played guitar with Bill Monroe back in the 50s, said his uncle once beat DeFord Bailey in a harmonica contest. He said his uncle's secret was that he played two harps, one with his nose.
But why is his stuff so rare? I mean, all Amazon is offering me is Key to the Highway by Madcat and Kane, starting at about $20 (new), oooh, and going up to $80 second-hand!

I think a lot of Madcat's stuff was done on very small labels (maybe even homegrown ones) like Beancake Records.
A lot of his stuff is available from his site I seem to recall.
Stuff like "Live at the Pressure Cooker" is I think unavailable nowadays. But I'd recommend things like "Harmonicology" and any of his stuff with Shari Kane.

Although I have never met Pete in person, he is longtime friends of the family...including my aunt, uncle, cousins, brother, and bassist extraordinaire Jason Boekeloo.
First it was the tune "Room to Move" that turned my ear towards the harp then Madcat used to play live in a small club in town in the 80's in Michigan and I was hooked. He also plays guitar, jawharp, kazoo, uke, any damn thing laying around. Easy going guy too. Hope to catch Triple Play soon in Connecticut.
