One of my favorite songs is William Clarke doing Pawnshop Bound. I am not much of a tongue blocker - ok with slaps and octaves - but in trying to figure out how he plays this, I have heard he would sometimes pull a chromatic or octave harp out of his pocket for parts of songs. he probably is just doing some fancy work on a C diatonic, but some parts I cannot seem to duplicate on a C. No tabs on this one that I can find. Anyone know if this is straight diatonic? Love this guy's style...

Thanks.

Dan

That's one of my favorites too. I have the tab from David Barrett and it looks like it's all C diatonic. Which part are you trying to figure out?

There is a long harp section in the middle of the song and there are some combos in there that I cannot quite get down. Starts with what sounds like a 3-6 and from there I lose it. My just be my inexperience at this. Yeah, he was in my opinion a fantastic player and singer. Another one that burned out too fast.

David published a book (Mel Bay 1996) and transcribe all of the Clarke's song in the album "Serious Intentions." Unfortunately, I think it's out of print.

Here's the first of phrase of the what I think is the solo in question. "+" means blow and "R" means rest. I tried to put *'s where the beat falls. A lot of cool octaves in there!

djm let me know if you want more.

Looks like the font changed so the *'s aren't lining up correctly.

Thanks. Interesting. I googled this song a few times, and came up dry on a tab.
