One thing I noticed from my clubbing days is the dance floor could be empty for ages, but as soon as someone else started dancing - no matter how badly - the floor began to fill. Noone wants to be first, but find one person who doesn't care (for whatever reason) and people follow.
So, if like me, you evaluate how good a gig was based on how full the dancefloor got, you need to be that first guy who doesn't care. Dance on stage and people care less about their own inhibitions. All that talk in another thread about keeping time standing up - it's easy - DANCE!
I'm no Fred Astaire - but honestly bad dancing is better than standing rigid, staring at the floor!

Totally true longusername. Lol that dance thing is friggin hilarious... Whenever I do something ridiculous no one follows and I look like a fool. ---------- "Without music, life would be a mistake" -Nietzsche
Patrick, the "I don't give a f**k" attitude is what counts, only then people will follow (you'll still look like a fool, though... lol). ---------- germanharpist, harpfriends on Youtube

I think he's awesome and I have no problem with that. I respect his confidence.

How fickle! Pick a side!
Neither side is wrong. For example when my wife and I took ballroom dancing, I wanted to be that guy whereas my wife certainly didn't want to be. Nor did she want me to be... We ended up in the middle, having a great time but not attracting attention to ourselves.
