Harvey Goldsmith was on 'Desert Island Discs' last week; he is the legendary rock promoter who bought Led Zep and The Who to America to name a couple!
Some stories he told! Like Keith Moon got annoyed in a hotel room, picked up the television and threw it straight out of the window on the top floor, it landed spot in the swimming pool and he shouted 'bullseye'!!
He bought Miles Davis to London and Miles reputation preceded him as being 'very difficult'.
Anyway it was a hot August and Harvey laid on a buffet in the Hotel pre-gig and had trays of cool water melon.
Miles walked in and saw the melons and went ballistic and said he was gonna kill him seriously.
Now Harvey did not know (and nor did I) that water melons are a symbol of the slave trade!
He stormed off did the gig, brilliant, and they became good friends..

Oh! Missed that one.

Great stories. I'll see if it's on the BBC website.

Can you remember any of his record choices?
