Can anyone tell me if the prewar super chromonicas are as sought after as the prewar marine bands?
How much would you expect to pay for one in working order with the original box?
I saw one in a antique shop for £50, I am not sure if that is a good deal or not.
Thanks, Ryan

50 pounds is a little more than what they go for on Ebay, but not much. If you are willing to put some time into looking at ebay, you can get one pretty cheap, you just have to watch. I've never paid more than probably 15 pounds for one, but it will be several months before I get one at that price.
On the prewars, you will need to replace valves, clean the slide and repair comb cracks. They rarely come in perfect condition

I just saw one go for £13 (it had a probem with the one hole draw) in my watched items on ebay.
I thought they would have gone for more than that.

I have one which is at least 50 yo but not pre war (which war?).
Mine is, still today, in pristine condition. I was unable to play it as I had a nickel allergy. Older harps contained a lot of nickel.
I replaced the mouthpiece/ slider with a new one, which looks identical to the old. The new mouthpiece now does not give me problems.
I hardly ever play it.Compared to my newer Chromatix SCX48 the Hohner is a real clunker!
