I imagine so: it's been removed.

All he said was, and I'm paraphrasing:

" I tried the internet model of offering some free stuff and hoping that people buy my CD's... well obviously it was a wast of time so I'm shutting down my website. "
(underlined with some melancholic guitar and harp music)

And like that... it was gone...

A pitty... I really liked his "D minor blues".

Well, RIP, harmonicarl.

So the attitude was "So no one is buying my CD's so what's the point of playing music?"

Is that what they call irony?

How come when I try to watch it, I just get:

This video has been removed by the user.

Is it a UK thing or something?

"So no one is buying my CD's so what's the point of playing music?"

Well, I'm sure he still plays music... but he doesn't put it on YouTube for free anymore.

He should have advertised it more. I.e. at the ends of his clips just mention that he has a CD with more of that stuff... I'm sure people would have bought it too.

jonsparrow: it seemed less to me as if he was angry - rather sad... "a change of heart", is probably it.

I wouldn't call it a waste of time, but a gross miscalculation.

The "old model" of providing content on CDs has been replaced by the "new model" of providing the content without a middle man. If you try to use the "new model" to sell "old model" products, you will end up frustrated. Not to mention that you will drive away your customers.

To make money from the "old model" you need to pay some lawyers a lot of money. That's why CDs cost so much - not because the artist is getting paid, but because of all the lawyer fees involved in being (and staying) the middle man.

i think the satisfaction of people enjoying his music should be enough for him. if i made music like he did an every one loved it id keep posting it wether i made money or not. you know the old saying "whats it about? its about the music!".
