I was watching Chinatown the other night and couldn't resist trying to accompany the incidental music, which is played on maybe a flugelhorn or a cornet or something.
Normally I'd get out my manuscript book and transcribe it, but I couldn't find the book. Also the melody repeatedly changed key and I couldn't figure out what the key sig was or what position I was playing on any harp. I haven't listened closely to the full piece over the opening credits yet - that would make things easier.
So I was picking up harps at random. I ended up with the Ab, but the next day I realised there was an easier alternative (on the Ab you need to go from 3 draw with a triple bend straight to 4OB!). Anyways, if you have the DVD check it out, see if you enjoy the exercise.
