ok so there are a bunch of "vintage marine band harps" on ebay that claim to be from an estate sale. is there a way to tell what year there from? i know from lookin at that link it mentions the logo will be bigger an stuff like that but theres no way to tell that from lookin at a blurry pic on ebay. is there any dead on things to look for so i know im not just buying a rusty marine band thats not vintage.

jon, if it's from before WWII, then the trade mark on the back plate will have a 6 pointed star in the middle of the plate the two hands are holding. If it's from after the war, it'll be blank inside that plate (look at any of your modern marine bands). If it's a 1930's marine band, it'll have that star in the trade mark and normal tabs on the sides of the covers (where the cover attaches to the comb). If it's older than the 30's, it'll have the star in the trademark and "mouse ear" tabs instead. AFAIK There is no super duper easy way to see if you have a 1950's or 60's harp aside from the box, which they usually don't have with them anymore...

Cheers,

Isaac
