Hi,

I currently have a pair of Alesis M1 amplified monitor speakers, a Bollinger mixing board and a Digitech Vocal 300 processer with a Shure SM58 Mic.

Is it possible to emulate that tone that a tube amp offers from this type of setup?

I had this equiptment when I used to play keyboard and wondering if I should just get rid of this stuff and get an Amp for plug and play.
I understand that my setup is only for playing in my room right now.

Thanks for your advice. Also, if anyone has a Vocal 300 and has or knows when I can get some good sounds setup.

no. there is plug-ins that you can use that will emulate tube amps but they sound no where close to the real thing.

Although there is no substitute for a tube amp, there are tube preamps and amp simulators like the DigiTech RP250 and RP300 that will take a large step in that direction.

the effects on my 24 channel mixer do a surprisingly good job when you use the right two. None give that chicago tone though. That's where they all fall short of tubes.

Thanks for all the advise. I picked up a new Gretsche G5222 this afternoon. Could not pass it up for the price. Got it for Cost! It sounds awesome and exactly what I was looking for. You are all spot on as there is no way I could have got the sound out of my studios with the Vocal 300. You get alot of other cool sounds but not what I was looking for.

I only have a Shure sm58 right now and sounds good bur want to get 1 more Mic.

What do you recommend between a Shure 520DX, A shaker or Bottle ) blues. Looking to spend 100.00 or less.

Thanks Again!

Thanks to Adam who recommended this amp.

I've played all 3. In that budget, I think the Bottle'o'Blues is your best choice.

I'm glad you liked that amp. I was very impressed by it. Obviously it doesn't have a lot of stage volume, but as a recording or practice amp, or a rehearsal amp when everybody is turned way down, it's great.
