I am trying to emboss a harmonica but I don't have any of the tools I've seen used for it. Anyone know any common household items that are good for embossing?

One recommended tool is a socket.

The rounded end of a teaspoon worked OK for me.

You can use a dime.

Isn't a sewing needle a bit difficult to hold while applying pressure?

It's OK with a little practice , You're just sliding with the needle for a few times one border of the reed hole and checking the result.

I like to use small rodents.

When that doesn't work, I use a socket.

I don't think I'd use a dime, the sides are not smooth.

@ eddy
i tried that too, the ball at the end of a tuning fork. i didnt realy like it. maybe mine is too small cause i kinda felt like it was pushing it into the slot slightly. im not sure. i might just be paranoid.

Maybe tuning forks come in different sizes?
Reeds do. Anyway: My fork works for me.
I had read somewhere about glass cutters being great tools for this job...but THEY do not do it for me.
Just use what works for you. And don't worry about any paranoia.
