I grew up in the home of the blues and still live here. Was lucky enough to be given a Marine Band from the local drugstore by my grandmother when I was about 6. I was probably 12 or so before I actually learned to play it, but it had a big effect on me.....(I eventually learned the fiddle, guitar, trumpet and a little keyboard as well) and I now work my harps over a fair bit.
My almost 3yr old daughter keeps snatching my harps out of my ramshackle case and tooting on them... She loves music.
So today, I bought her a harp of her own. Plastic combed Hohner. She toots around on it and grins a bright smile. She calls it her 'momica' :)
While I don't know if she'll ever learn to play it properly, I want her to have the chance. Hopefully music will continue to be a part of her life long after I'm not around to enjoy it with her.
Maybe she'll even do the same thing with my grandkids someday.

My great nephew has a hohner plastic harp i gave him on a visit here. He told my wife to make sure "uncle Ronnie" knows he's playing his harmonica, when she saw the family in New York last week. It's cool to pass it on.
