The first video would be interesting if the guy getting x-rayed actually knew how to sustain a bent note and play it well.

The second? Kind of a cool tune but an insult to harmonica players world wide. The harp hardly gets played, and when it does he is supposedly playing a chrom but the solo is clearly on a diatonic. Apparently the dude can't play a lick. Wonder how he'll cover that if he has to play live. Maybe he can't sing either. Milli Vanilli all over again.

I think the blame falls on the director/editor of the video on #2 just as much as it does the artist for not catching it... I'll wager it was simply overlooked and the clip was just thrown in there for the sake of somewhat matching the song...

interesting, the take on holding the mic similar to the ghetto pistol grip/sideways aim thing.... and i dont know about you guys, but i couldve done without the whistling bits....

the first vid was cool but like greg said it would have been better if they used some one who could actually play.

I actually find the first one pretty scary.

I iked the second video a lot forcits catchy tune and it's tonguecin cheek 1980s MTV video sensibility. Clearly not intended for harp purists but for kids who don't even know there are different types of harmonicas. So I googled the artist--Bad News Brown. Very cool, he's released a hip hop album that is harp based. He's into hop hop, rap and blues. The guy's not a virtuouso, but from what I see he's pretty good, and loves the harp!! I'd guess he'll do more to popularize the harp than all of the incredible players who were at SPAH combined. He's been around for a couple years, hope he becomes a commercial success. Would be great for our instrument.

Can't seem to embed from my iPhone, but here's a link to another of his videos--

The funny thing about the first video is that he has a bad tone and you can actually see why-- there's almost no open cavity in his mouth when he plays, and it looks like his mouth is basically closed.

Hummmm....if memory serves me correctly the "subject" in the first fluroscope video is Howard Levy. Any bad tone may be a result of trying to play with your head crammed in an x-ray machine. (Ouch!)
Watch for his tongue moving back to form a cavity, not the jaw position.

moose.
