I play out of the box marine bands and find all the keys up to C easy to get strong bends out of. On the D harp and upwards however, they seem really stiff and difficult to play, and I can't get smooth bends tongue blocked. Any mods to make of tecnique suggestions would be appreciated. :) jfllr

Hey Jfllr...if you look on you tube, Adam shows you how to do some simple tweaks to you MB to make them play better using nothing more than a piece of paper to gap the reeds. I think this one is it........

Yeah some MBs are just difficult to bend. All my low harps require extra energy to play, but all my high harps play like butter. I find that MB quality control is generally better in their 5 case deals then individual out of the box harps.

Oisin:

I'm afraid to go back and watch that video; I haven't watched it since I've made it, but I suspect I'd cringe at my own naivete“. As a harp modifier, I'm strictly a wild-eyed primitive next to somebody like Buddha or Filisko or, at this point, half the people on this forum. I'd never heard of the term "plinking," for example. I didn't really know any of the techniques that harp modifiers use. I still barely know them.

When Chris M. and I finally meet, I'm going to demand that he sit me down and sophisticate me, rapidly and permanently. I'm going to sit quietly and watch him work on a harp, and ask lots of questions.
