I could have reviewed my SBS in C which arrived the other week, but I didn't. I like it a lot. It takes a while to get used to the fact that the 5 draw is the same as the 2 draw, instead of a minor 7 - if you want the F (in this case), you have to bend the 5 draw down a tone.
The other problem is there are so many holes that finding them in the middle octaves, except with your ears, is very difficult.
But the good news is that if you are a beginner who has difficulty with overblows and were contemplating getting an SBS, then I'd say buy one today - OBs are amazingly easy on it!
No, I'm told it was an Echo Vamper, which isn't made any more, but Low D and Low C (or SBS C) can be used (I've heard him play that song using harps in both these keys)
It looks like a Marine Band 364 to me... but you can see hear the "Echo Vamper" on the covers... but I presume that Echo Vamper was like all the other Echo Vampers, various Marine Bands with "Echo Vamper" covers on them...
I love Rice Miller's sense of rhythm. I think Adam puts SBWI higher up on his 10 greatest list, but I feel that I can learn more from Rice at the moment.
