BELLEVILLE - The Ohio River Valley Harmonica Championship is slated for noon Sept. 19 at the Belleville Homecoming Grounds on West Virginia 68 between Ravenswood and Parkersburg, WV.

Numerous prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place winners. There will also be a special double-reed category for tremolo and octave harmonica players.

C.A. Seydel has offered an 1847, a Big Six, a Solist as well as a Hochlandklange (for the double reed contest). Chris Richard has offered a custom microphone that will be built on the customers specs, Hal Iwan is offering one of his awesome cases and Danny G has donated a Suzuki Promaster as prizes.

Contestants may have one accompanist, will have five minutes to play two songs and may play any type of harmonicas they wish. The entry fee is $14, $4 of which is collected at the gate.

In addition to performances of contestants, the judges themselves will be performing.

The celebrity judges will be Phil Caltabellotta and George Miklas of the HARPBeats trio.

Caltabellotta, a retired New York City police officer and firefighter, has previously performed with the Harmonikings, The Electra III Trio, The Yellow Pine Trio, Phil n' The G.A.P and The Society Boys.

Miklas, a Mercer, Pa. resident, was hand picked by Jerry Murad to replace the legendary Al Fiore as chord player for Jerry Murad's Harmonicats at only 19 years old and his career included performances with the St. Louis Symphony Pops Orchestra.
