Congratulations everyone. We did very well considering we were up against some very stiff competition.
Thanks to all who took part. I'm sure, like me, you didn't find it a stroll in the park. Lessons will have been learnt in this exercise. The most important lesson I take with me is that no matter how good one may be, the imagination to break the mould and make something unique is paramount. It is not easy. (For me at least).
Thanks to all who voted for my entry, I'm not sure I deserved your support because when I asked my grandchildren what they thought of my playing they said it was bad. I think they meant in the old sense of the word, though. You obviously have better taste and can see a rising star in our midst. Forgive my modesty.
Sorry to those who didn't vote for me. I hope I didn't offend your ears for one and a half minutes. I'll try and please your aural sensibilities more next time. No! on second thoughts. What the f**k do I need to do to please you moosh. Get the wax out your ears and get some decent speakers. You wouldn't believe the hours I sweated to get it right and now my grandchildren are in tears because gan-gan didn't get your vote. I hope you are pleased with upsetting me and my family, you low lying piece of...................Only kidding.
Seriously though. The challenge was just that and having a target to meet meant that focus was required which is what a lot of people need to apply themselves. Hopefully the next one will be a bit more popular amomg the forum members and generate more support and interest.
A humble thanks once again for those that voted me into Joint Winner position.
For those that took part and didn't make the list - +5 +4 +6 +5 +4 +5 +4 +6 +5 +4
Only kidding. Honest.
Special Thanks to German Harpist and Mickil for driving this forward.
I'd like to thank my parents, my agent, my manager, all my fans, the blokes who make the reeds at Seydel, the bloke who planted the Beech tree its comb derives from, the bird I met the other week at a jam for saying, 'You're reaaly good,' and all the others who are too numerous to mention.
No, but seriously, thanks for the votes and comments I got. What GermanHarpist said, that's some compliment.
Just a quick word about some of the ambiguity over the use of effects in the voting thread. In the rules, which are here:
I never wrote that they weren't allowed, although, I think it was easy to make the inference that that was the case. One or two people said something like, 'it wasn't in the spirit of the rules,' and I see their point.
I kept my mouth shut in the voting thread cos it didn't seem right to interfere. Anyway, it's no big deal; the whole thing is just for fun. All I'm saying is that next time maybe we can make the rules a bit clearer.
Congrats to everyone who participated. Let's hope we have more peeps next time.
EDIT: Yeah, tooka, that banner is cool! ---------- 'If it sounds GOOD to you, it's bitchen; if it sounds BAD to YOU, it's shitty' - Frank Zappa
Thanks to all who posted. It was fun to watch and very inspirational. Now I'm inspired to my tepid rendition of Summertime and have may examples to draw from.
Thanks to everybody who participated--even the low-lifes who didn't vote for me deserve a big thank you for participating and for voting--no matter how wrong your votes may have been. ;-) Finishing in the top 5 with the likes of Christelle and Tooka and Dutch and Mikil is a great honor to me!
This was a fun one--with a song that I have played (Mostly on guitar) for as long as I can remember.
I'll be practicing for the next one--how much whiskey do I have to chug before I play a train song?
I also would like to thank the Academy and its Members, My family.. who supported me all the way... wait! wait!.. I'm the one who supports my family... anyway I thank them all for not kicking me out during those hard times when I tried to do my First Bend...... And of course Special thanks to Adam Gussow, better known as "The Doc" or "Dr. Gussow", because without his help this all would not have been possible. .... for creating a place where harmonicaholics can dwell , flourish , exchange ideas, kick butt, occasionally bite butts, learn to love, hate and forgive each other, but most of all.... a place where we can share the beauty of music on this little 10 holed creature... also known as "The Blues Harp".... a pocket sized giant, which has filled the lives of so many with joy and laughter.... sh%t I'm getting all chocked up...... and... wait... it seems that my 30 seconds are up... ok! ok! I'm almost done.. And finally I would like to thank the 2 GUYS who put this thing together ( yes, you know who you are...) and everybody else who participated in this event, one way or another... and finally.... Thanks to all the people who voted for me.. I don't know what to say..... except for... I'll Be Back!...... ---------- DutchBones Tube
Way to go, guys. Congratulations! I enjoyed watching and listening to all of the submissions and had a blast participating. Looking forward to the next one.
Good stuff - especially like Mickil's. I hadn't thought of trying the tune in 2nd but it works well. Where was the voting thread by the way? And does anyone know if my video was added to the YouTube forum?
I didn't make the list this time, but had fun learning a new tune and participating. Thanks to those who voted for me, and congratulations to the winners. Now watch your backs!
