Very recently I discovered him, I love his style of playing and I would like to know if he was a tongue blocker or a lip purser , and if he was an overblower? Thank you.

I'm currently playing in a band with the gal who played bass for him until his passing. I'm not sure she will know, but I will ask when I see her at our next practice.

Yes, he was an overblower. He was very early in this idea of playing the blues harmonica like a rock n' roll electric guitar.. The man to ask about Pat Ramsey is Jason Ricci. If Jason is gonna be playing near you, at as much as he gets around he will, go there and ask him. Jason moved to Tennessee just so he could soak up everything Pat Ramsey did.

Hi again, I have just been on the Pat Ramsey site and if you want to hear him live here is the link. As a bonus you get Jason Ricci and Dennis Grueling. I have taken this info direct from the site I hope thats ok.

In august I went to Jason Ricci’s Harmonica Blowoff just before SPAH. I tried to record the show with my MD but my battery died just after Joe Filisko’s set. Luckily, some tapers were there and that entire show is now on archive.org the link to the show is
http://www.archive.org/details/jrnb2005-08-16.akg481.flac16
however it is in flac format, so you will need to download a decoder at http://flac.sourceforge.net/download.html the software and the show can be downloaded for free.
The whole show is awesome (especially the last set where Jason Ricci, Pat Ramsey, and Dennis Gruneling all got up and traded licks). Some awesome musicians played including Jason Ricci, Pat Ramsey, Joe Filisko, Dennis Gruneling, Jimmi Meade, Nicholas Froquet, and several others. Only one artist (Dennis Guruneling) did not want his set posted, which is a shame because that boy can play. But, like I said earlier, he is caught on tape playing with Jason and Pat towards the end of the show.
Enjoy
