the 2nd most important day to all Irish people, after St Patricks day of course.

officially its Sir Arthur Guinness day.

on this day 250 years ago Sir Arthur invented a drink that would bring both happiness and joy to many... at 17:59 you must wipe a tear from your eye and say " thank you sir! may I have another?"

on that note I'm off with a Shelalaigh under me arm and a twinkle in me eye, been practicing Danny boy and the Irish washerwoman all week, could be the first public performance tonight you just never know with ol' Arthur...

Now, now...it's not only the Irish that appreciate Mr. Guinness' contribution...

I'm enjoying one now, and I'm an American of French descent (via Canada). The only Irish in me came from a glass!

Cheers to all!

I've had few 'sessions' with Guinness!
But I've been told Guinness 'doesn't travel well'!

Irish friends living in Boston said it tasted different here.
