i finished my first custom harp. im pleased with it. lots of trial an error of a long period of time but in getting it down. this on is embossed, gapped, sealed, nailes replaced, opened up cover plates, installed cover plate supports. now i gotta get me a tunner an learn to tune.

thanks. sounds good. noticeably louder an more responsive then a stock one. more airtight. it does sound a little out of tune though. i donno if thats from the embossing.

Looks good Jon, seems you extended the bolts to reach up and support the opened cover plates. I've found that crimping the backs yet leaving that angle makes the coverplate pretty rigid and I've never added any other support. good idea of yours, I'm still re-using nails. are they locknuts? my only worry is that they will vibrate loose.

no there not locknuts. i dont think they would vibrate loose. also it sustains all overblows including the 1 hole. the 5 overblow has a bit of a squeal. oh an that wasnt my idea of the cover supports. its been done by few people.

I had the same problem, that the reeds got out of tune while embossing... I don't know why that is, but if you think about it, bronze is a pretty soft metal and you're constantly gliding over the reeds. This could very well have an impact.

Very nice bud! The procrastinator in me is jealous, lol. You'll have to show me your operation sometime.
