Nine Below Zero are a UK band that have a pretty large following amongst the rock blues brigade.

The harp player in this clip is Alan Glen I think. He was with the band for a time whilst they and their normal harp player Mark Feltham had some time apart.

Although it could be Billy Miskimmin. He also did a stint before Felthams return.

Mark Feltham is an excellent harp player and is one of the busiest session players around. He played harp on a lot of brit pop stuff in the 1980's. Mark was also Rory Gallaghers harp player for a pretty long time.

The band have a big following in the UK at least. Personally when I saw them I thought that although Feltham had a great sound. The band overall were pretty boring. It seemed that they were going through the motions and not enjoying themselves at all.

Who knows maybe I just caught them on a bad night.

@Kingley
I don't think you did catch them on a bad night, I was surprised to be bored too; even though like yourself I always enjoy Mark's work when he pops up.

I could think of a number of bands in Bristol right now who are more exciting and enthusiastic.

'Nine below zero' is a memorable band name and methinks they are leaning on their rep.

Hmm... I'm not that familiar with the band but from what I've seen I'm tempted to agree with Harmonicanick and Kingley.

But Feltham is clearly a switched-on player with a few tricks up his sleeve. Wilf Taylor at www.HarpSurgery.com did a three-part series with tabs of different songs here, here and here.

Saw them in the early 80s in Belfast and that was one of the best gigs I have ever seen. At One time they were the best live band in the world as far as I was concerned. Listen to their first album "Live at the Marqee" and you'll be hooked.
I haven't heard them lately bit like all of us they're probably a little bit older and might not jump around the stage as they used to... their sets must have been the equivalent of running a marathon in energy levels.

Thanks for the referral Murray. I hope to post an interview with Mark Feltham shortly.
