many thanks to mr.so&so
he made an comment on my first vid that there is less percussive quality (`pop`).i looked at it and saw immediately that this is absolute right. now i do it slower and try to get more punch. i think it was mainly because of the exhale chuggs.
does anyone have an idea how to reach that? i know about chakataka and those things.a great help was adam in one of his vids to open the left corner of the mouth while exhale.
does someone know any other techniques (on inhale/exhale/single notes/chuggs)?

alexdeduke, Peter "Madcat" Ruth is one of the best percussive chuggers alive. I can recommend his DVD, "The Ins and Outs of Rhythm Harp", available from his web store. He describes many techniques for doing all these things. I recently purchased the DVD to forearm myself for HPC3.

Maybe I shouldn't have given away my secret weapon... especially to someone who is already far ahead of me. Happy harpin'.

i have it as vhs video since two years and i can play the riffs, but i could not get this sharp, crisp sound.
maybe it´s only practicing a few years more.
by the way, if one fine day i find a guitar player in my area to play the bars and i´m a acceptable harper i don`t think we steal each others gigs.
for me there is no competition or ranking in music.
i`m far ahead of you? i feel like i`m only at the beginning.

Just kidding about the competition. If you have the Madcat video, he seems to get a lot of "pop" from the "hup" and "pah" stuff, which stop and start the air flow abruptly. I've got a lot to learn from that video yet... only had it a few weeks. We could all probably benefit from a few thousand hours more of apprenticeship. Good luck with it.
