I play G/M's exclusivley except for one SP/20 in D. I've blown out 2 A harps in the last 3 months, 4 draw and 5 draw. I went through the archives but there is so much to wade thru. Does any one have a link where I can get G/M reed plates?
By the way the SP 20 went under water during hurricane IKE. It was one of 10 harps I had stored in a cabnet drawer after I converted to G/M's. Any way I managed to save 3 of the harps but the S/P 20 D harp took on a life of it's owne. Bold sound very loud and crisp, over blows over draws man this thing is awsome. It sounds so good the G/M was moved to the back up section of my case and the IKE S/P 20 got it's spot in the starting line up. Wish I knew what happened to it molecularly when it was submurged in the salt water, back water goo that flooded the hole house? I guess it's got back water Mojo in it now. Back on reed replacment, any help is appreciated.

Just so that every one that dosen't know. I Emailed Hohner USA about getting reed plates for my G/M's. I got a response 2 days later, not what I wanted to hear. I cut and pasted the email response from Hohner below. I can't see why they would cost that much more?
"Reedplates for the Golden Melody are not available ( due to the high cost from ther factory ) We offer a warranty program ( 30 days ) or service program.Details on our website". Sincerely Sissi Jones Harmonica Service Hohner Inc. 1000 Technology Park Dr. Glen Allen VA 23059

Man, I don't see the sense in this. I can buy new reeds for my sax! I'd like to know how these things are made. Can it really be so complex and expensive that no one can provide replacement reeds?

Shredder you can get Golden Melody reedplates here in Europe. I don't know if the price is right for you and I'm not sure what the postage cost is but you may want to delve a little deeper on this site. It's full of goodies.
There is a Spare parts Price list.

Thanks for the links guys. Looks like the "harmonicas direct" shop has a better price and a very good selection to boot. The "harp on line" has a good line up but if I converted the money right they are higher priced. Thank's again, Mike

Hey Kingley, I got an Email back from Harmonicas direct today. I have pasted the Email below. The reed plates aren't cheep but I'll still save $10.50 over buying a new harp and I have 4 that need fixing. That's like getting one free at $35 a pop.
Greetings from West Yorkshire, England, Michael,
These would cost approx $18.00 each, post would be approx $3.50 Please let me know which key you would like and I will see if it is in stock.
Yours sincerely,
Peter

Just an update, Peter sent me another email. He stated Hohner told him the cost of the G/M reed plates would go up 20% on his next factory order from Germany. He said I could have the old price for the plates he had in stock but look for an increase on future orders. Mike

Glad to hear that Peter can at least sort you out with a few plates at the old price.

How can an increase of 20% be justified? Why are prices skyrocketing all of a sudden. I haven't heard of a shortage of brass, and labour costs throughout Europe are being kept low. WTF. ----------

Tooka - it's the exchange rate. We're getting completely shafted by the weak pound. A couple of years ago 1 Euro was about 70p now it's just under £1.
