daniel , you gotta use your common sense , just like in humans its all about observation and how many activities he has during the day .I feed my German shepherd( the same weight like yours) 2,5 cups of food mixed with some liver or some other stuff. You start with something and than if he gains weight you feed him less food and so on.. . All common sense

I agree with sorin. I feed my 80 lb Golden lots but we run 20 to 25 miles a week. Vet thinks she is on the heavy side but with all the exercise she is built like an Ox.

he can eat as much as he wants as long as the exercise is balanced.

how often do you exercise him? He needs more than a walk. Bring him for a swim or a run. I run my dogs twice per day if I have the time. I don't walk them, I make them run hard. I do this by throwing a toy or ball and then keep them running for 20 minutes. Also lots of tug-o-war will help him burn some energy.

Start by feeding less by giving him HALF of what you feed now. The dog realyl won't know the difference. If the dog is extremely fat, I mean where the back of the dog look like a flat table top, then feed chicken broth with just a few piece of kibble on top.

What kind of kibble are you feeding? Make sure it's a good quality kibble. This is what I feed http://www.orijen.ca/

THANKS !

The dog gets a good run once a week but i play with him every day (throwing a ball through across the house...)
I'll take your advice on good kibble, and i'll try to make him run a bit more.

tossing a ball in the house isn't enough. It has to be sustained running or play.

This is how I exercise my dogs every morning.

"Where were you guys when I was trying to get the furnace pilot light lit the other day????"

Oh! If only you'd asked. Problem could have been with the gas pressure, the pilot thermostat or the bypass valve connected to the pilot conflibulator has gone US, but I expect you already knew that?

And Chris's dogs are in GOOD shape! I got to wear the arm guard and have them bite me. His Rots pack a HUGE punch, and his Shepard is super quick. He had me run down the street, and the dog just chased me down and got my arm. It was awesome!

If Buddha is as great a dog trainer and harmonica teacher as he says where are the videos of the harmonica playing dogs?

My dogs got the blues
He won't chase his tail
He just lets that old mailman
Deliver the mail...

Oh he's got the blues
Won't bay at the moon
But give him a harp, yeah,
And he'll carry a tune.
