I go to a couple of jams where it's not feasible to take an amp as there is not real room for it onstage. So I have decided to use a little pedal board rig instead. Tonight is it's debut so we'll see how well it performs.

It consists of a Shure 545SD or an Ev RE10 into a Danelectro Fish 'n' Chips EQ into a Boss DM-2 into a BBE Sonic Stomp. This should in theory give me an "amped" sound into the PA.

I have fitted it all into a small case complete with power supplies and mains lead. I still need to get a power brick to run all the pedals.

At the moment they are all running off individual 9 Volt supplies. I also have a Boss OC-2 which I may also fit in as a compressor. Although I'm thinking that the BBE Opto Stomp would be a better option if I go for a compressor.

I just wondered what the general consensus was on this set up?
Also does anyone have any suggestions that may work better?

keep in mind that what ever settings you have on there might not sound the same on there system. you might have to tinker around till you get the sound you want.

Yes, that's why I went for a mini board. That way I can quickly dial in the EQ and Delay to the PA/Room (or at least should be able to!)

I've been going through a DanEcho Delay to a SansAmp ParaDriver DI to the PA for awhile now. Really like the various sounds available and can tune to the room. Wish the SansAmp would store presets though. The controls are really sensitive and sometimes take a lot of fiddling around.

I use a digitech rp80 (discontinued) with three settings...so far. Of course there's always bypass as well. And straight into a vocal mic for clean harp. plenty versatile for jam night.

The whole harp rig is in my briefcase..I gutted a briefcase and cut custom seat foam for my harps and pedal and stereo DI box, cables, impedance adaptor and two mics, even some toothpicks and bent paper clip for emergency reed tweaking. It's a great one hand carry jam rig. Good luck with your easy carry rig!

Congaron, Looks like a good portable rig. I know Richard Hunter likes those RP multi effects units too.

Hopefully someone will record some of tonight's jam, so I can get an objective view of how the rig sounds front of house.

I like mine. I use the pedal as a volume pedal and adjust the unit volume for the system that night. Then I have everything from rhythm to solo volumes easy to access with my right foot. With three presets, bypass and clean into my vocal mic, i have many sounds available to keep it interesting. Plus, at 52, less is more when it comes to carrying stuff to a jam night. For gigs, the rest of the rig comes out and i mic it into the pa for the bigger ones. I can also put the mic in a clip on my boom stand and play my trumpet into it for a fatter horn sound, or to simulate more horns.

Well I used my mini travel rig last night for the first time.

The general consensus was that it sounded great.
The audience certainly seemed to like it a lot.

It still needs some tweaking to get it to optimum performance level. However one of the guitarists remarked that it was the best sound he had ever heard me use.

I had to run the BBE Sonic Stomp off a battery as the power supply was making it buzz. So I do need to buy a power brick for sure. But other than that no real major problems at all.

I might also try this rig in front of my HarpGear Double Trouble just to see what that sounds like at the next suitable gig.

Hey Scrapboss, you've done yourself well finding Randy Landry's Lone Wolf goods-he's our local pride and joy! After lugging my heavy rig around two nights in a row, I think I may pay him a visit and break down for a Harp Attack. Do you get a decent tube overdrive with it? I played thru one at Randy's shop, but it was with my tube amp. I'm anxious to hear what it'll do thru a p.a.

p.s.-nice case, but no room for my FN Herstal P40!

p.s.s-a question: who knows a good online source for foam, preferably a medium density. non-crumbling foam to line a case with?

I started out with nothing, and I still have most of it.

I hope the one I ordered is the same! The details/fit on yours looks better/cleaner than what I can make out on the one I ordered.
